This custom lot of 5 handmade hammered Damascus steel blade chef knives showcases exceptional craftsmanship. Our Damascus steel is genuine and not just an acid etch, made from a blend of 1095HC and 15N20 nickel carbon steel. The bars are heated and folded repeatedly to create 384 layers, resulting in a stunning patterned blade. The blade is then burned in acid, turning the nickel layers a satin color while the high carbon layers become blackish gray, revealing the distinctive Damascus pattern. Acid etching exposes these layers beautifully, but when the metal is highly polished, it takes on a shiny satin finish like other steels. Only after burning the blade sides with acid do the layers become visible. After the blades are crafted, the handles are polished to remove acid burns, and the edges are sharpened to a satin finish. Each knife in this set is 100% handmade, ensuring quality and uniqueness.
