After forging, the blade is acid-etched to reveal the beautiful layers — the nickel layers turn a satin silver color, while the high carbon steel shows a blackish gray tone.The acid etching process exposes the distinct layered design typical of Damascus steel. When highly polished, the blade displays a shiny satin finish, and only the sides etched with acid reveal the signature Damascus pattern.
